World Cup 2018 Qualifiers
Group D has two more games scheduled for Saturday. While we don’t expect anyone to be very enthusiastic about the one between Georgia and Moldova, quite a few eyes will be watching Austria’s home performance against Ireland.
The game is crucial for the Austrians, who know that anything less than a win will complicate the group greatly for them.

After three games, Austria only has 4 points. An away win against Georgia (2-1), a home draw against Wales (2-2) and an away loss against Serbia (2-3) show us their form perfectly: they just about manage to do what they’re required to, but always come just a tad short.
If they don’t manage to win their game against Ireland, the gap between them and the leading teams will only grow.
They are expected to win their next game against Moldova, which will give them three more points, but without connecting that win with a good result against Ireland, the situation doesn’t look any better for the central European team.
Meanwhile, it’s safe to say that the Irish are enjoying life. Coupling a 2-2 away draw in Serbia with simple wins over Moldova and Georgia has put them in second place, only due to a worse goal difference that Serbia’s.
Their next two games are hard, though: this away game against Austria will be followed by a home one against Wales – both teams in great need of points.
Their good form should ensure that they will win at least some points from these two clashes, but we’ll have to wait and see if that’s really the case.
Austria vs Ireland Betting Tips
Since this game is especially close, we won’t choose any outright winner for it. Instead, we believe that a “both teams to score” bet and an “over 2,5 goal” bet have good chances of succeeding.
We expect to see an open game with lots of chances, and each team to score at least once – which happened in all of Austria’s games so far.
