Rio 2016 Olympic Games – Football Betting Previews, Odds And Tips
Denmark and South Africa are two teams which were involved in the only goalless draws of Day 1 of the Olympic games. Both results were rather surprising – the South Africans managed to defend the draw against Brazil, despite being down to ten men, while the Danes were unable to find an opening in a good Iraqi defense. Who will prevail in the clash between the two teams is a mystery we’re still looking to solve.
07/08/2016 – Brasilia
On the one hand, the South Africans already proved to be sturdy in defense against a Brazillian team which threw everything it had at them. They haven’t been very active in offensive but have some quick players which can bring the ball very quickly to the opposition goal.
They will most likely look to hit the Danes on the counter attack and will allow themselves to be dominated. The success of this strategy depends on the quality of their defensive formation – will it manage to keep a clean sheet for the second game in a row?
Meanwhile, the Danes had a horrible game against the surprising Iraqi team, being dominated in all areas of play – possession, shots on goal, everything – and only relied on the inspiration of their goalkeeper to save a point from the game.
They know they need a good result against South Africa to stand a chance of qualifying and will do everything in their power to achieve this.
From a betting perspective, this game is not easy to predict – everything is still wide open in the group and there are no teams with their backs against the wall.
We back Denmark to have better possession than their opponents, but overall we think the game will not be spectacular, making an under 2,5 goal bet a good one. If you’re looking for a high-odd bet, try betting on a draw.
Draw: 3.30 or 23/10
