England vs Wales: EURO 2016 Betting Preview & Tips
With the first two games of the group officially in the past, Group B still looks very open. After a rather surprising 2-1 victory for Wales over Slovakia and a dramatic 1-1 draw between England and Russia, nobody can surely predict who will qualify for the knockout stages of the tournament.
So far, it seems to be a 3-way deal between Wales, Russia and England, with Slovakia almost surely ruled out after a disappointing loss against the Gareth Bale & Co.
Betting Odds: England 1.57, Draw 4.05, Wales 6.55
In the second stage of the group, Wales and England will go head to head in a British derby at Euro 2016. The game will surely be interesting from many points of view – the rivalry between fans and players alike, the pressure on both teams (Wales are almost qualified if they take 1 point, England are in trouble if they fail to win) and the offensive nature of both squads will surely produce an excellent footballing spectacle.
In the first match of the group, England managed to control most of the game against Russia, only to find themselves equalized in the 92nd minute.
Especially in the first half, the likes of Sterling and Lallana created lots of chances for themselves and their colleagues, while the English fullbacks completely dominated their flanks.
Meanwhile, Wales and Slovakia fought a hard battle for the 3 points, decided by a fluke goal by Robson-Kanu and a brilliant one early on from Gareth Bale.
We think that given England’s appetite and capability in attack and Wales’ less than ideal defending, we should see an English victory and a few goals. England should score more than 1 goal and come up as winners of the tie, with Harry Kane poised to break the ice at Euro 2016.
Total Goals: Over 2.5 – 1.95
Exact Score: 2:1 England Win – 8.75
Meanwhile, Wales will probably play the counter-attacking card, which can still produce goal – meaning that a bet of over 2,5 goals in the game is fairly common. If England manage to win, Wales’ game with Russia becomes an open derby for qualifying for the knockout rounds. That will be another game surely worth watching!
Betting Preview, Odds and Tips: Germany vs Poland
The first day in Group C of Euro 2016 saw no surprises. The favorites of the first day, Poland and Germany, both managed to win their games, 1-0 against N. Ireland and 2-0 against Ukraine, respectively.
Although Germany’s tie was a lot harder than the score tells it, the World Champions managed to live up to the expectations and start the European campaign with 3 points. Their game against Poland seems easy on paper, but is it really like that?
Betting Odds: Germany 1.57, Draw 4.33, Poland 6.50
The two teams were part of the same qualifying group, where Poland managed to produce a surprising 2-0 victory over their opponents. Thursday’s game will provide the Germans a chance for revenge, as well as a chance to book their knockout stage tickets early.
Meanwhile, Poland knows that a good, positive result against Germany almost surely ensures their advance, needing only a point in the game against Ukraine to go forward without any doubts.
The Polish have shown good football versus N. Ireland and only their inability to convert their chances prevented the scoreline from growing. We understand that the Irish team is one of the weakest in this year’s tournament, but Lewandowski & Co’s performance is still not to be ignored.
Meanwhile, the Germans had some difficulties with Ukraine and saw a ball saved off the line by Jerome Boateng, and waited until the 92nd minute to score their second goal. They did seem in control for most of the game but weren’t as impressive as you might expect.
The direct game between the two sides will most likely produce goals. There are 2 bets which clearly stand out : over 2,5 and both to score. 2-1 and 3-1 are some of the most common predictions for this game, while Muller and Lewandowski seem like crowd and betting favorites to score goals.
Over 2.5: 1.71 or 5/7
Exact Score – Germany Win 3:1 – 12.50 or 11/1
Germany Win & Over 2.5: 2.10 or 11/10
Germany wins & over 2,5 goals is another fairly good bet, which also has great odds. In the end, the idea of the game is clear : we will see good football, goals, and most probably a German victory.
