June 22, Stade Pierre-Mauroy. Betting Preview, Odds And Tips

The last game in group E will answer the last questions regarding who will qualify from this group. After 2 great games in the first two days, Italy are already sure of finishing among the top two, while Ireland must make up their mind regarding their game : will they show good, offensive football like in day 1, or horrible defending like on day 2 against Belgium?

Betting Odds:   Italy 2.45 or 29/20   Draw 3.10 or 21/10   Ireland 3.40 or 12/5   with xNx

The Italians are currently one of the nice surprises in Euro 2016. They managed to show great, quick counter-attacking football and perfect defensive quality. Against Belgium, they were always quick to reach the opposition goal and clinical in front of it, winning 2-0 and missing a couple of other chances.

The Belgians didn’t manage to find any holes in the near-perfect Italian defense. Conte’s obsession with playing 3-5-2 seems to pay off, especially due to the awesome defensive trio in front of the legendary Buffon. Although not many people saw Italy among the hot favorites this year, they might quickly change their mind.

On the other hand, the Irish played beautifully on day 1 against Sweden and only bad luck prevented them from emerging victorious. Their second-day game was a complete opposite and Belgium easily trashed them 3-0. They know that a win against Italy will ensure their qualification from 3rd place while a draw won’t really help them in any way.

Sadly, the Italians will probably rest some key players and lack some motivation. They will probably score, profiting from the less-than-ideal quality in the Irish defense, but we are unsure if they will emerge victorious or not.

This does seem like a clear under 2,5 game, though – Italy won’t look to score, only needing a point to ensure they finish top, while the Irish probably can’t score. 0-0, 1-0 or 1-1 are the most common probable scores. We don’t have a favorite goalscorer from the Italian side, but Shane Long is a favorite for the Irish.
