The Euro 2016 finalists feature in one of the most disproportionate confrontations of Day 2 of the European World Cup qualifiers.
The French will host Bulgaria, a team which barely beat Luxembourg last time around, and will be looking to win 3 points to erase their less-than-ideal debut against Belarus. Will they be able to do so?
France vs Bulgaria – 7th October
Betting Odds: France 1.14 or 1/7 Draw 9.00 or 8/1 Bulgaria 23.00 or 22/1
The answer should be yes. France played well in Euro 2016, have a great squad, and the result against Belarus was nothing more than an accident.
They had possession, shots on goal, everything – just lacked the finishing touch. They will play knowing that 3 points are an absolute necessity because they don’t want to have a difficult campaign.
The French should be able to score quite a few times, against a defense that conceded 3 times against Luxembourg. Pretty straightforward, isn’t it?
On the other side, the Bulgarians can and should be worried. They will face one of the best teams in the world at the moment, coming after a rather difficult 4-3 win against some real minnows.
Their defense especially let them down, and given the overall lack of top players of their squad, should be looking to avoid being humiliated by the French.
They will most probably try to defend deep and score on the counter-attack, but they also lack quick players that can make this strategy effective. Looks like a pretty tough game for the East-European side.
France vs Bulgaria Betting Tips
The bet we recommend is a solo home win. France to score, if you’re feeling overly cautious. And if you’re looking for a high-odd bet, go for a handicap win (France -1,5), and Griezmann or Giroud to score.
The two are in fine form, as well as Payet, and the towering forward should be able to beat the Bulgarian defense quite easily. Seems like the easiest game to predict from this series, doesn’t it?

Portugal seems to treat these World Cup qualifiers just as they’ve treated the European Championship – growing their squad game after game.
