Liverpool and AC Milan were two of the most surprising teams during their first games in this year’s International Champions Cup, but not for the same reasons.
While Liverpool did very poorly versus Chelsea, although they were expected to at least put up a decent fight, Milan managed a penalty win over Bayern after a 3-3 draw in regular time. How will the two teams play against each other?
31 July – Santa Clara, USA
In their game against Bayern, although they didn’t enjoy much of the possession, Milan managed to come back after trailing 2-1 at half-time to lead 3-2, only to find themselves equalized from the penalty spot in the last minute of the game.
They managed to keep their cool during the shoot-out and won 5-4 there, a surprising result for a team who seemed to live more due to their history than their results in recent times. Who knows, maybe AC Milan will be able to put up a better title challenge this year – they haven’t done so in quite some time.
On the other hand, Liverpool were vastly seen as a team who can create chances easily in the last third of the pitch, due to the formidable quality of their attacking players.
Sadly for them, this wasn’t the case against Chelsea – they only had some shots from long distance and half-chances, while their possession was mostly stale and based on lateral play. Without a doubt, Klopp wants to see his team improve their game and at least find the Italian net once.
Speaking of which, we actually think that this will be the case in this game. Liverpool were up against a great defense against Chelsea, but Milan’s defense isn’t at the same level.
They should score at least once, and probably even concede in the process – look for a “both to score” bet if you’re looking for a high-odd bet. If not, Liverpool to score is a good idea, and we might even see an over 2,5 goals game.
Both Teams To Score: Yes 1.72 or 8/11
Total Goals – Over 2.5: 1.90 or 9/10
Draw No Bet: Liverpool 1.72 or 8/11
