International Champions Cup 2016 Betting Previews, Odds And Tips
Chelsea – Liverpool is not necessarily an old-school English derby, but more like a recent one, born out of competitive rivalry. We can all remember some great games between the two teams – including a 4-4 quarterfinal game in the Champions League which is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful football matches in history.
27 July – Pasadena, USA
There is something special about these games all the time – and we’re sure the clash in this year’s International Champions Cup will be no different. The game will take place in the North/South America league of the competition, on the 27th of July.
Chelsea just got a new coach – Antonio Conte – which brings a fresh, new mentality to the team. Their last Italian coach, Carlo Ancelotti, enjoyed good success. Conte is widely expected to implement his 3-5-2 system with which he had great wins both at Juventus and as head coach of Italy – a system which hasn’t been seen in England in quite some time.
To back this up, Chelsea has made some spectacular transfers this summer – Michy Batshuayi and N’golo Kante – two players which will greatly help their title challenge campaign. They also haven’t sold any relevant players – just a few that have been loaned out last season.
On the other hand, Klopp is starting to shape Liverpool according to his strategy. He had more than half a season to figure out the ups and downs of the squad, and is now transferring accordingly.
He brought in Matip, Klavan, Manninger and Karius from the Bundesliga he knows so well, but also made two big-name, high-profile signings – Wijnaldum and Mane, who join an already stellar attacking force that also features Sturridge, Benteke, Origi, Firmino and Coutinho to name a few.
Liverpool surely wants to finish higher than last year, and Klopp is surely the one who can bring them forward. Their recent Euro Cup final defeat surely still stings – but maybe they can use this frustration into positive outcomes.
The game between the two sides will surely have one thing: goals. Liverpool are a team which is known to feature in very spectacular games, and their attacking players are more than capable of opening any defense.
Betting that Liverpool will score is a good idea, but an over 2,5 goal bet might not be a good idea so far. Conte is still an Italian coach, and we all know how well they can organize their teams. Other predictions are very hard to make, since this is a friendly – possession bets, cards bets or scorers are all hard to guess.
If you want to bet on a single winner, we’d fancy Liverpool to just about edge this one – given their better team cohesion and the fact that they haven’t changed their coach. In the end, the decision lies with you.
Without a doubt, the game will be one of the most spectacular of this year’s International Champions Cup. Prepare for a football celebration, but put some money on it – just for a little bit of extra incentive to watch the game. You won’t regret it.
Liverpool To Win: 2.87 or 15/8
