Leeds vs Rotherham – England Championship Preview, Predictions & Betting Tips
The “David vs. Goliath” encounter of this round of the Skybet Championship is, without a doubt, Leeds vs. Rotherham. Elland Road is prepared to host the weakest team in the division, one the local ex-European champions Leeds should easily overcome. Will this be the case, or will we see an almost-traditional new year surprise?
Leeds vs Rotherham – 02/01/2017
Full Time Result: Leeds 1.53 or 8/15 Draw 4.20 or 16/5 Rotherham 7.50 or 13/2
Leeds are one of the efficient teams in the league, no doubt about that. 31 goals scored and 24 conceded are not impressive records at either end, but a careful balance between them brought Leeds 42 points, which brought them in 5th place. They need points against Rotherham to keep up with the pack, and a win could take them as high as 3rd.
Their good home form should continue here easily – they haven’t conceded in their last 3 home games where they’ve only lost against Newcastle recently. If we only look at the last 10 games, Leeds would sit 3rd in the league – with only Brighton and Derby above them.
Meanwhile, Rotherham is in big trouble. Their wins against QPR and Wigan made some people believe that they can put up a fight to avoid relegation, but a home defeat against Burton quickly silenced these fans. Rotherham is last, haven’t won a single away game all season and only made one draw – losing the remaining 11 games, in which they’ve conceded 33 goals. Surely, we can’t expect them to start winning points at Leeds’ ground if they couldn’t do this against smaller teams.
Leeds vs Rotherham Betting Tips
That being said, a solo home win is our idea of the day. Ironically, due to the visitor’s better recent form, we favor a “both teams to score” bet. Desperation should at least bring Rotherham a goal but probably won’t bring them any points. This seems like the typical over 2,5 goals game as well – Rotherham will score one and Leeds 2 or 3 times.
