When nobody thought one of the oldest football rivalries in history can evolve, it just got better. The famous Manchester Derby now overlaps with another famous rivalry: that between the two greatest coaches in activity, Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola.
While they were managing Real Madrid and Barcelona, Pep was the clear winner in the clashes between the two – but will history repeat itself in the Premier League?y
Manchester United vs Manchester City
We will throw history and head-to-head statistics directly into the trash can for this game. Truth is, there is no relying on the past right now – both City and United have made lots of transfers, have two world class coaches, and will battle until the final whistle for the three points and the honor of beating their rival. This season, the teams are so close it’s almost scary:
Both teams sit on 9 points after three games. Aguero and Ibrahimovic both sit on 3 goals, top of the scoring charts of the Premier League. Both coaches seem to have decided fairly quickly regarding the starting 11 they will send on the field – but there are a few differences as well.
Although United miss Fellaini and Mkhitaryan, City is hit much worse: they miss Aguero through a suspension and Kompany, Gundogan, Sagna and Sane through injuries. These absences, coupled with the fact that they will be the away side, could lead City away from possession football and towards counter-attacks.
Manchester United vs Manchester City Betting Prediction & Tips
To say the game is difficult to predict is a great understatement. We don’t think a 0-0 draw is on the cards, though – although Mourinho is a defensive coach, his team will be able to score, backed up by the great crowd.
United’s squad also features more players experienced with Manchester derbies, which can prove decisive.
We feel going for a 1X bet could be a smart idea, as well as betting that we’ll see at least 3 yellow cards in the game. And, of course, if you’re looking for goalscorers, look no further than Zlatan.
Goalscorer – Ibrahimovic Anytime: 2.37 or 11/8
