The derby of Day 3 in the World Cup qualifying groups takes place in group A, between the Netherlands and France. The teams have shared their periods of domination in the past, with France having the upper hand recently.
After all, we are looking at a game between the finalists of Euro 2016 and a team which failed to qualify for the same tournament – but surely there’s more to the game than this.
Netherlands vs France – 10/10/2016
France started the group very unconvincing, with a 0-0 draw away in Belarus. In their next game, they trailed 0-1 after just 6 minutes at home against Bulgaria, but turned on the style and led 3-1 at halftime and 4-1 at the final whistle.
A good result against the Netherlands can turn them into clear favorites for first place, while a defeat will make their campaign much harder. A draw wouldn’t hurt, especially since it’s an away draw, but the French will surely target victory. Given their current form, who can blame them?
Meanwhile, the Dutch don’t have a great squad. Robben, Van Persie or other great players of their recent past which led them to the final stages of the 2014 World Cup and the final of the 2010 edition all retired, and Promes, Janssen, Blind or Wijnaldum are their new stars.
They also have 4 points after a 1-1 draw in Sweden and a good 4-1 win over Belarus – and they know that a win against France could turn them into favorites for 1st place.
Netherlands vs France Betting Tips
Derbies are always hard to predict, which is exactly why we won’t bet on the final result. We believe we shall see at least 2 goals, so over 1,5 is a safe idea.
France will almost certainly score, and Payet or Grierzmann are our favorites to find the back of the net. Finally, we believe the French will enjoy better possession since the Dutch play a more direct style of football.
These are our only clear ideas for the game – we leave the rest to live betting. Good luck!

Portugal seems to treat these World Cup qualifiers just as they’ve treated the European Championship – growing their squad game after game. This time around, their opponent is Latvia, a team with no objective and nothing impressive so far. Can the Portuguese have any doubts of winning this game?
