Preston vs Sheffield Wednesday – England Championship Preview, Predictions & Betting Tips

Sheffield Wednesday is one of the teams to watch in the next few rounds of the Sky Bet Championship. They have confirmed their great recent form with a win over Newcastle, which doesn’t come easily – and will be looking to consolidate their playoff spot in their next game against Preston, which they beat 2-1 just a few weeks ago. Will they manage to win the 3 points at Deepdale?

Preston is a great example of an almost perfectly balanced mid-table team. They’re sitting in the middle of the standings, 13th, with 32 points after 23 games. They have a 9-5-9 record with a 31-31 goal difference, too far behind the playoff spots to mount a serious challenge and too far above the relegation zone to be seriously threatened. They seem like the typical non-objective team, and don’t have the best home record in the world – just 17 points from 12 games, and one win in their last 5 games.
On the other hand, Sheffield Wednesday has reached 6th place after a great recent run and want to consolidate their playoff spot as much as possible. Their away record isn’t the best out there: 4-4-4, with 16 points and an 11-12 goal difference, but it does show that they’re a tough nut to crack, especially given their current form: 3 straight league wins, including a 1-0 away win over Newcastle. The team is eager to win another 3 points which could take them as high as 3rd if other results go their way.

Preston vs Sheffield Wednesday Betting Tips

That being said, we’re not putting our money on Preston. X2 is our idea of the day, along with a possible under 2,5 goal bet. Only 3 of Sheffield’s 12 away games had 3 or more goals, and we expect them to actually beat Preston – although probably only narrowly. A solo away win should also be considered, especially since it actually has very good odds.
