World Cup 2018 Qualifiers
Geographically-impaired people have real issues differentiating Slovakia from Slovenia – a direct football game between the two countries is a lot more than they can handle on a daily basis.
Thankfully, the two teams only met 3 times in the past – surprising, isn’t it? Will we see the first Slovakian victory in history, or will the Slovenians manage to avoid defeat yet again?
Slovenia vs Slovakia – 8th October
Betting Odds: Slovenia 2.50 or 6/4 Draw 3.10 or 21/10 Slovakia 3.30 or 23/10
Slovakia is currently at the top of its game as an independent nation. They’ve earned they place in the Euro 2016 final tournament from a group with Spain, even beating the (then) European Champions 2-1 on one occasion.
They didn’t make a fool of themselves in the final tournament as well, playing some good football, and will now be looking to target 2nd place in the Group, which might give them tickets for the 2016 World Cup.
Hamsik is, without a doubt, their best player and their leader, and his form will be crucial for their entire qualifying campaign.
On the other hand, Slovenia has played worst and worst after their participation in the 2010 World Cup. They failed to qualify for the next final tournaments and now have a squad which is not exactly impressive.
Their goal in the group will be to fight for 2nd place, but Slovakia and Scotland clearly have a better chance of achieving this.
Home games will be crucial for the success of their campaign – thus the game against Slovakia becomes much more important.
Slovenia vs Slovakia Betting Tips
From a betting perspective, our first and clearest idea is an under 2,5 goal and draw – since both teams are known for having good defenses and less good attacks.
We believe the Slovaks will not lose, so an X2 bet is also something to consider. Finally, if you’re in the mood for a riskier bet, a solo away win is certainly a possibility and brings large odds: over 3,00. Best of luck!
