Tottenham Hotspur has been enjoying top-tier club status for quite a while now. After challenging for the title last time around, they’ve only made two big transfers and are looking to build on last season’s momentum to push Champions League qualification again.
Will they manage to produce what is required of them against Stoke, a team that doesn’t seem to find its balance in this season debut?
Stoke City vs Tottenham Hotspur
They should be able to do it. The Spurs have notched up two draws and a win so far, without being terribly impressive. There is one clear conclusion from these games, though: the team is very dependent on Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen.
The first failed to find the net in the first three fixtures of the year, while the second doesn’t seem to find his rhythm yet – lots of bad decisions and sloppy plays. We know it’s just a matter of time before the two bounce back to the top of their game, and when they do, Tottenham will be able to beat anyone.
On the other hand, Stoke is one of the teams with no wins so far. The only point they have was won on day once against Middlesbrough, a newly-promoted team. They’ve been less-than-impressive in their other games, with several key players like Arnautovic, Shaqiri or Bojan being out of form.
They know they have to pick themselves up for the game against the Spurs, but the absence of star goalkeeper Jack Butland surely won’t help.
Stoke City vs Tottenham Betting Prediction & Tips
From a betting perspective, we back Tottenham to not lose this game. Stoke have to produce something very, very special to win all three points, which can only happen due to the fatigue of several Tottenham key players.
Every other case is a clear Tottenham win – with Harry Kane among the scorers. We think this is the game in which the star forward will break the ice this season, either from 30 yards of from the penalty spot. But, in the end, do we really care?
Tottenham To Win: 1.85 or 17/20
Result/Goals – Tottenham & Over 2.5: 2.87 or 15/8
