When it comes to betting odds, one of the most widely-used bet is the “over” bet. There are a lot of things which can go well in a football game which lead to goals – send-offs, penalties, the underdog scoring a lucky goal, and many many more.
Typically, bettors use the 2,5 goals margin when it comes to over/under bets, but one particular margin – 3,5 – is also very used. Why? Because the risk/reward is very favourable in certain situations and can increase your betting odds by quite a lot.
But there is one big prerequisite for having success with this particular bet: knowing to pick your games. Not all games have the potential to see 4, 5, or more goals scored.
We want to choose games which are either very imbalanced towards one side, which can win 4-1, 5-2 or even 6-0, or games between balanced teams which like to attack, but don’t have the best defences – teams where a 2-2 scoreline is not very rare. We have a few ideas when it comes to Over 3,5 Goals bets during the World Cup 2018:
1. Colombia vs. Japan
Group H Preview
Mordovia Arena, Saransk, 19 Jun 2018 – 15:00 Local time
Not your typical over game, but when we look into it a little deeper, we see that it really has potential. Colombia is an offensive team which loves to score goals and always plays offensively, while not having the best defence out there. Japan is a team good enough to take advantage of this weakness and score a goal or two, but will most certainly also concede in the process. 3-2 or 4-2 are very possible scorelines here.
2. Uruguay vs. Saudi Arabia
Group A Preview
Rostov Arena, Rostov-On-Don, 20 Jun 2018 – 18:00 Local time
A game from group A between an attack-oriented team and one with a pretty leaky defence. We think this makes an excellent “over” game because not only is Uruguay capable of scoring 4-5 goals, Saudi Arabia also has to come out and play football. They certainly won’t want to exit the World Cup without a single goal scored or point, so they will have to open up. Especially if we see an early Saudi Arabia goal, this prediction will have high chances of success.
2. Belgium vs. Tunisia
Group G Preview
Spartak Stadium, Moscow, 23 Jun 2018 – 15:00 Local time
A classic one-sided game. Belgium has shown that they’re capable of scoring 5-6 goals against an opponent, and they seem at the top of their game at the moment. We believe that a 4-0 scoreline is extremely likely, and a Tunisian goal will only make matters worse. An early goal could turn this bet into a quick winner, while a 0-0 halftime score isn’t the end of the World either.
4. Japan vs. Senegal
Ekaterinburg Arena, Ekaterinburg, 24 Jun 2018 – 20:00 Local time
Another rather interesting selection, but these are two teams which will probably go gung-ho against each other. They’ll have nothing to lose and everything to win, and the game will quickly turn into one about “who can score more than conceding”.
5. South Korea vs. Germany
Group F Preview
Kazan Arena, Kazan, 27 Jun 2018 – 17:00 Local time
We expect Germany to heavily outclass their opponents and win the game by a large margin. The South Korean team is also fairly weak on the physical side of the game, meaning that the towering German players will have easy time scoring from set pieces.
At the end of the day, these are only a few examples of great “over 3,5” games which can be found on numerous betting sites. Make sure to conduct your own analysis and find the best possible World Cup betting offers, and remember that this is a high risk/high reward type bet. You won’t find yourself winning every individual selection, but when you do, you will love the returns.
